Reel New Mexico Returns
On Thursday, February 12, at 7.00 pm, REEL NEW MEXICO will present RED SKY AT MORNING, a 1971 film that was shot mostly in the Santa Fe/Galisteo/Truchas area.
Based on the novel by Richard Bradford, who lived in Santa Fe for many years, this is a quiet coming of age tale in the early days of World War II. Richard Thomas stars as Joshua, whose well-to-do family moves from the deep south to New Mexico at the outbreak of the war. His father (Richard Crenna) is called to service, and it is up to Joshua to help take charge of the family home, as his mother (Claire Bloom) falls into a well of self-pity, longing for the amenities that were available to her at the family home in Alabama, while falling prey to a sycophantic cousin who mooches off Joshua’s father’s generosity. Co-stars Desi Arnaz, Jr. and Cathy Burns help introduce Joshua to his new life in New Mexico.

The $5 suggested donation/admission at the door will go for expenses and to bring in filmmakers for other screenings.
Screening on Thursday, March 12, 2015- ‘The Milagro Man: The Irrepressible Multicultural Life and Literary Times of John Nichols‘, a 75 minute documentary film about one of New Mexico’s most noted authors, whose works include ‘The Milagro Beanfield War’. Nichols will be our INVITED guest (no confirmation of his attendance at press time-title subject to change)
